Every experience in my 62 years has shown me the pain of getting there is never as bad as the hurt of staying where I don't want to be. Clench your emotional jaw, double up your fists of willpower and independence, then start swinging! Before you know it, you'll have what you need and won't be feeling all that hurt any longer. As you saw from my post, you are not alone in your settling for a back seat. There are a million reasons, and fear of failure or not knowing what the ‘right’ thing to do is lead the pack in our industry.

I will share that I once a shy man hiding behind a front and did everything I could to avoid avoid taking real risks and proving my mettle. I think the worst fear is that I would discover something about me and that ‘they’ were right. Since then I have proved they are wrong. I think you will find that to be the case.

I can come up with so many great ideas but I am not too good in the "action" department. I realized this and decided to take action and make the leap to do something really exciting with my career! I was frightened beyond belief and frankly still am! I am trying to learn some new things like giving a presentation, public speaking, finding a higher level of self confidence. I'm the girl who would literally black out when I had to give a book report in front of the class! I'm coming right along though and fight the "just give up" thoughts just about everyday. With all that said I know it's the fear that keeps most of us from "just talking" and to go ahead and take an idea to the next level. It's real, It's freakin' scary yet so worth it!
